A very moving commemoration of the start of World War I, called the Minimum Monument, took place in Birmingham this weekend.
5,000 small figures made of ice were placed on the steps of Chamberlain Square and allowed to slowly melt. The event was captured by photographer Verity Milligan and you can see more images like the one below on her Facebook page.

Fifty of the UK's most innovative traders will make up an arts market, a food producers' market and a street food/bar area. The Summer Market runs from noon until 7pm.
