Weddings28 April 2012

Spring is in the air and we've just cottoned on to the fact that our favourite indie cinema in Birmingham, The Electric, does weddings. Getting hitched at the Electric and then honeymooning with us at the Rotunda? That sounds like a very cool plan.

If you want to plan something special at The Electric, call manager Sam Bishop on 0121 643 7879 or e-mail sam@theelectric.co.uk.

And don't forget to give us a call at Staying Cool - our chic apartments are just perfect for proposals and honeymoons. Our guest relations team will make sure that everything goes swimmingly.

David Thomas of The Independent recommends Staying Cool at the Rotunda for romance.

The Voyage June 201226 April 2012

A spectacular free event called The Voyage will take place in Birmingham from 21 June 2012 - 24 June 2012. This will be an amazing sight! An enormous ship will sail into the centre of Victoria Square docking itself beside the city's Town Hall.

If you'd like to watch The Voyage and stay in style in Birmingham, we currently have availability for those nights.

The Voyage, part of the Cultural Olympiad, will take place in Victoria Square which is just minutes away from Staying Cool at the Rotunda

You'll be able to watch the action unfold onboard the ship and be caught up in the atmosphere on the ground, where seagulls swoop and travellers prepare to embark on their journey. When the ship sets sail, the Town Hall will be transformed by spectacular projected imagery and the city's skyline will become a dream of undiscovered worlds.

Professional dancers and aerialists will join forces with a huge choir, live musicians and more than 140 community performers to transform the Square and tell the story.

This outdoor multimedia spectacle is created byMotionhouse, one of the UK's foremost dance theatre companies, and world-renowned physical theatre company Legs On The Wall, from Australia.

'The company blasts physical theatre into a new and triumphant dimension.'

The Sun Herald, Australia, on Legs On The Wall

'A fascinating experience... an assault on the sense, amazing.'

Manchester Evening News on Motionhouse

Produced by Birmingham Hippodrome, and with original film projections from award winning Logela Multimedia, The Voyage is a free event for the whole family.
