RIBA has announced an exciting new competition to redesign Birmingham's Centenary Square. Several key buildings in the city are found there including the new Library of Birmingham, the Rep Theatre, the International Convention Centre and Symphony Hall.
The competion to redesign the square has been launched through the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Landscape Institute on behalf of Birmingham City Council.

The Library of Birmingham won the BBC's public vote for the Stirling Prize this week, but RIBA awarded the actual Stirling Prize to the Liverpool Everyman Theatre.

The BBC has launched an online vote inviting people to select their favourite of the six buildings shortlisted for the Stirling Prize. The vote closes this Wednesday. You can cast your vote online
Malala Yousafzai has become the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. The people of Birmingham have really taken Malala to their hearts - her long recovery took place here - and we were honoured to have her at the Rotunda last year when she spoke to The Guardian.
