Urban Coffee Company11 August 2014

Congratulations to the Urban Coffee Company, which is five years old today! This small, independent company supplies us with all of the delicious coffee for our Rotunda apartments.

Urban Coffee Co. also runs some very funky coffee shops in and around Birmingham.  There are now four, including one in the city's Jewellery Quarter and one in Church Street.

Minimum Monument04 August 2014

A very moving commemoration of the start of World War I, called the  Minimum Monument,   took place in Birmingham this weekend.

5,000 small figures made of ice were placed on the steps of Chamberlain Square and allowed to slowly melt. The event was captured by photographer Verity Milligan and you can see more images like the one below on her Facebook page.

Summer Market01 August 2014

Take a stroll down from Rotunda to Digbeth tomorrow (Sat, Aug 2nd) and you can enjoy a very funky Summer Market. The market has a vintage twist and you'll be able to sample craft beers served from a classic Routemaster bus,  cocktails from a 19070s VW, waffles from a retro caravan and teas and coffees from a Morris Minor!

Fifty of the UK's most innovative traders will make up an arts market, a food producers' market and a street food/bar area. The Summer Market runs from noon until 7pm.
