Here's what you can do to help the planet while you are staying with us.
1. Conserve energy
Staying Cool has always run on 100% renewable energy courtesy of Ecotricity. We heartily encourage you to reduce energy consumption by switching off lights when you’re not in the apartment, and appliances at the wall when you are not using them, as well as closing the windows if the you’re popping the heating on.
2. Be water wise
Please use water wisely; only fill the kettle for the amount you require, if you only have a few dirty dishes, leave them in the sink for our housekeeping team who will hand wash them rather than loading the dishwasher.
3. Only use what you need
If you only need one or two pillows, please pop the other ones in the wardrobe. The same goes for the towels.
4. Support fellow indies and shop local
Try to avoid the chains that you see on every high street. Birmingham has a wealth of independent shops, restaurants and bars. We’ve listed our favourites in the apartment guide. Or sample one of our Cooking Cool packages with recipes created by local chef (and Staying Cool ambassador) Alex Claridge. All the ingredients supplied, are locally sourced too from Edible Brum and Nomad!
5. Go on foot
Take a wander. There are some great places to visit around town and you’ll stumble upon some other gems en route. Take in some culture at the new City Library, relax at the bars and restaurants along the canals of Brindley Place, or peruse Birmingham’s famous Jewellery quarter for something extra special. All are just a short walk from Rotunda. We’ve also created some walking tours for you – ask at reception.
6. Or by train!
We are sandwiched between two mainline railway stations so getting pretty much anywhere ln the country or the region is a mere three minute walk. If you are exhibiting or visiting the NEC, we will buy your train tickets for you so you don’t even have to queue. Just ask at reception.
7. Our Surroundings
Rotunda is located right in the centre of town, so we encourage all our guests to help us look after the city and beyond by not littering, using public walkways and cycles responsibly. Our team have a vast knowledge of the area and good places to go, so don’t hesitate to ask if you’re looking for recommendations or directions.
Be sure to let us know how we’re doing, as a company we’re always open to new ideas to be that little bit more green, no matter how unusual they may be. So if there’s something you think we could do better, tell us… we’ll do our best to put ideas into action!
