We won the Best Hospitality Business award at the Birmingham Post Business Awards last night! The judges were looking for businesses that facilitate exceptional events and/or corporate hospitality. We were shortlisted alongside two stalwarts of the sector The ICC (International Convention Centre) and Edgbaston cricket stadium.
Reaching Creative Heights
To celebrate our 10th anniversary at Rotunda, we ran a year-long series of cultural events under the Creative Heights banner. This really appealed to the judges.
In the past year, we’ve hosted activities as diverse as Poetry in the Penthouse with Writing West Midland, pop-up restaurants with The Wilderness, a film screening of High-Rise with The Electric; plus an acoustic set with Songwall, a press interview with Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai and a Santa’s Grotto for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Our Managing Director, Tracey Stephenson said, “This proves that a small serviced apartment business can successfully compete against big companies. Our creative team relishes the challenge of coming up with exciting events that fit with our brand and location. We would like to thank all of the businesses and charities who have partnered with us. Special thanks go to Independent Birmingham who nominated us for the award.”
Broadcaster Daisy McAndrew hosted the awards ceremony with keynote speaker Lord Andrew Adonis. The judges were Marc Reeves and Sarah Pullen of Reach PLC, Lucy Fardy of Barclays and Neil Philpott of PWC.
Chair of the Judging Panel Marc Reeves said of the finalists, “..what they all have in common is that spark of brilliance from which we can all take inspiration. Their stories of creativity, persistence – sheer hard work – are examples that we can all learn from.”
