The Good Food Guide: Birmingham Restaurants
Every year, the very best restaurants in the UK are tracked down by The Good Food Guide. The guide’s roving team of inspectors dine anonymously and pay their bills in full, so you can rely on their recommendations. We’ve compiled a list of Birmingham restaurants that have made it into the guide. Here they are in alphabetical order.
Adam’s was included in The Good Guide’s prestigious Top 50 UK Best Restaurants: “The food here is presented with a light touch and Stokes enjoys layering dishes with contrasts of texture and nuances of flavour…”
We say: One of the four Michelin-starred restaurants in Birmingham, so Adam’s is hard to beat. Read our Michelin in Birmingham guide here.

2) Carters of Moseley
Good Food Guide: “a hotbed of dynamically creative contemporary cooking based on sustainably sourced materials, rare breed meats, foraged plants and a keen historical sense of our culinary culture…”
We say: One of four Michelin-starred restaurants in Birmingham and worth the trip out of town.

Location: 2C Wake Green Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 9EZ (16-mins drive from Rotunda)
Good Food Guide: “..Tesh’s food is firmly in the vein of natural and wild flavours with plenty of Japanese-inspired umami.”
We say: One of our favourite recent Birmingham-restaurant scene arrivals and pleasingly different.

Location: 8 Caroline Street, Birmingham, B3 1TW (18-mins walk from Rotunda)
4) Harborne Kitchen
Good Food Guide: “He (chef Jamie Desogus) characterises his approach as ‘playful’ and the lightness of tone is enhanced by a willingness to offer contemporary cooking at something less than the stratospheric prices demanded elsewhere.”
We say: Worth a trip to the suburb of Harborne with its villagey atmosphere.

Location: 175-179 High Street, Harborne, Birmingham, B17 9QE (20-mins drive from Rotunda)
Good Food Guide: “..contemporary Indian cusine – a clever blend of traditional ideas, regional recipes and influences from Western kitchens…”
We say: Outstanding Indian food and, in a city that is famed for its Indian cuisine, the bar is set very high.

Location: 3-4 Dakota Buildings, James Street, Birmingham, B3 1SD (16-mins walk from Rotunda)
Good Food Guide: “A regional approach to Indian food presented vogueishly on piles of stone and hay is what Opheem is all about…”
We say: We’re yet to visit, but Opheem is definitely on our to-do list. In addition to making it into the Good Food Guide, it has been awarded its Michelin star.

Location: 48 Summer Row, Birmingham, B3 1JJ (14-mins walk from Rotunda)
7) The Oyster Club
