A look back at Staying Cool's 2016 Highlights

Main Image

To finish 2016 on a high, we thought it would be nice to look back at the things that made us smile at Staying Cool this year. We’re already planning great things for 2017.

Cool Things We Did For Our Lovely Guests
We like to treat guests with little extras and 2016 was a bumper year. Our Guest Relations team organised complimentary Pimms for the Wimbledon Finals (Go, Andy!), handmade chocs for Easter and Valentine’s Day from Chouchoute in Birmingham, gave away top-quality English wine every day during English Tourism Week, homemade Toffee apples for Halloween and bought Euromillions tickets for every apartment when the pot was particularly large. Christmas meant mince pies for all and our first ever donkey adoption

Earlier in the year, we also held a cello recital in one of our penthouses to support Orchestra Of The Swan (it was wonderful) and Seven Songs held a Fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Society.

2016 Highlights
We now have 35 serviced apartments in Birmingham and we were number one for hotels in Birmingham on TripAdvisor all year. We also retained our official 5* status for our Roadster penthouses, Maxi apartments and Clubman apartments – the only 5* accommodation in Birmingham! Our funky Mini apartments are 4*.

This year, media highlights include being recommended by The New York Times (twice!), The Independent, Heat Magazine and FLYBE Magazine. We also got the first official Australian recommendation we know about on Traveller.com. Google filmed an interactive tour of one of our Birmingham penthouse apartments and that sits proudly on our website homepage.

Events We Loved In Birmingham
Birmingham is so rich with culture that it’s hard to pick our highlights. However, The Wilderness restaurant opening was a biggie for us and we are very thrilled to see how well the Nomads are doing. City of Colours  - a graffiti and street art festival – was superb. We always love the way the IDFB (International Dance Festival Birmingham) takes us to new places whilst Flatpack Film Festival and BE Fest are super cool and inspirational. The Birmingham Instagramers exhibition was a fantastic opportunity to see the work of many of Birmingham's superb photographers.  The year ended with the Magical Lantern Festival coming to Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens and making us feel super Christmassy and happy.

Thank you to everyone who has stayed with us during 2016. Happy New Year from all us at Staying Cool!
