Birmingham is always exciting, but we're moving into a whole new gear this September with:
Birmingham Independent Food Fair
New Street station and Grand Central launch
The Rugby World Cup
Style Birmingham Live
Rotunda's 50th birthday!
BIRMINGHAM INDEPENDENT FOOD FAIR
Resistance is useless. Just dive in and enjoy street food, chef demos, local produce and deli foods, the Gin Garden (where do we sign?), craft beers, tasting sessions, cocktails and wines, plus live music and entertainment.
IFF has been such a success that in 2015 you can enjoy two days rather than just one (Saturday, September 12th & Sunday, September 13th). Tickets to the Birmingham Independent Food Fair are available online.
NEW STREET AND GRAND CENTRAL
Two major projects are coming to fruition this month in Birmingham!
From our penthouse perch twenty floors up, we have watched the transformation of New Street train station. The new interior of this busy station is all about light and space. We can't wait to take a look around on 20th September.
Four days later, Grand Central- a new shopping and dining destination for Birmingham will open.
There are over 60 shops and restaurants on offer. We're looking forward to checking out…
1) The biggest John Lewis store outside London
2) Foyles book store (only their second outside the capital)
3) Kiehl's (we're currently obsessed with their Crème de Corps)
4) L'Occitane - lovely things from Provence
5) The super chic White Company
6) Cath Kidston's retro style
7) Noodle and bento bar YakiNori (a fellow Birmingham indie).
8) Pho - authentic Vietnamese street food
STAYING COOL OFFER: Travelling to us by train in September? To celebrate the transformation of New Street Station, we'll have a thank you waiting for you on arrival. Simply show your tickets on arrival and we'll treat you to a bottle of wine (not in conjunction with other offers).
The Rugby World Cup reaches Birmingham in late September. South Africa play Samoa on Saturday, September 26th and Australia are pitted against Uruguay on Sunday 27th. However, the rugby spirit will be building from the 18th onwards as Birmingham will have an official Fan Zone in Eastside Park showing matches on a big screen.
Our apartments are a great choice if you're coming to see Rugby World Cup games. Our Clubman, Maxi and penthouse apartments offer spacious living areas to hang out in. They're right at the heart of the city, so you can enjoy the matches plus all the bars, restaurants, shopping and culture that Birmingham has to offer.
STAYING COOL OFFER: Stay with us us over the RWC2015 weekend for two nights or more and enjoy 10% off your booking plus a complimentary bottle of champagne. Offer valid for two night stays between Friday 25th and Monday 28th September, 2015 (inclusive) at our Rotunda apartments. Book here using the code RWC2015.
September 25th-27th is going to be a mammoth weekend for sports and the arts in Birmingham. You'll come across wonderful sights and sounds around every corner during the Birmingham Weekender. Music, dance, roaming street-theatre and art will take visitors by surprise in shops and department stores with performances inside, outside and in shop windows. You may even be entertained in multi-storey car parks!
A programme of free events sees highlights such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in residence at The Mailbox (which is looking amazing right now). Birmingham Royal Ballet will perform at the Bullring. Centenary Square will welcome young people as it is transformed into a Mexican day-of-the-dead block party while Victoria Square will stage live music.
During the huge Birmingham Weekender/Rugby World Cup weekend, the Gas Hall at the city's art museum and art gallery (BMAG) will play host to Style Birmingham Live. Style Birmingham is absolute bliss if you are into fashion and beauty.
The historic Gas Hall will become 'The Fashion Theatre', showcasing the latest autumn/winter styles. The event will feature eight catwalk shows across the weekend - all hosted by Mark Wright - as well as fashion advice from style experts such as TV's Mark Heyes.
Tickets for Style Birmingham include entry into the show, a welcome drink on arrival, a goody bag and the chance to enjoy retailer offers and activities. They are available online.
ROTUNDA IS 50
Lastly, we'll be marking the Rotunda's half century this September. We're conducting tours of the building as part of Heritage Open Days and Birmingham Heritage Week. Unfortunately, the tours are already sold out. However, we will be running a competition to give away a Rotunda print by Birmingham photographer Verity Milligan. Please follow us on Facebook for details.
We hope that you'll be able to join us in September in Birmingham. This great city is about to get even more exciting.
